The “CA’ BIANCA” residence is a characteristic medieval palace situated in the heart of Polcenigo.
Just a few metres from the historical Plebiscito Square with its magnificent Zaia palace (a fine example of Venetian architecture), CA’ BIANCA was originally a "Casa Cittadina", that is a HOME-WORKSHOP within the ancient medieval city walls. Due to a massive urbanisation and the necessity to house more and more people within the city walls, new buildings were built and unfortunately they sometimes overlapped with and took the place of the Roman urban and architectonic structures.
Thanks to a careful conservative restoration, it has been possible to bring to light the original two-storey structure of this building. Its enlargement, dating back to the second half of the 19th century, is still visible on the inside and on the skilfully restored main façade. Such a careful restoration revealed, on the second floor, the traces of two walled-up oval windows placed at the same level of the medieval garret. The restoration of the stone walls on the second floor revealed also the sloping trail of the original wooden roof.
The architectural restoration carried out by the architects Paolo and Giovanni PEZZOTTI, the owners of the accommodation, focussed on harmonising the palace with the surrounding buildings, on preserving the original architectonic structure and on integrating new and traditional materials. The accommodation features aged chestnut wood floors, exposed stone walls, fir wood ceilings, terra-cotta tiles for the ground floor and the main staircase, and thermal and acoustic cork insulation. Thanks to the Certificate of acoustic compliance and the use of bio-architecture in the whole palace, the guests of CA’ BIANCA will enjoy maximum comfort and wellbeing, essential for a quality getaway experience!
WHERE ARE WE. The "CA' BIANCA” residence is in the historical centre of POLCENIGO, Via Coltura 3, just a few meters from Plebiscito Square. Thanks to its strategic position, "CA' BIANCA” is actually close to the town centre and to public venues such as the restaurant, cafés, the ice-cream shop, the bakery, the grocery shop and, last but not least, the Tourist Office and the Reception of the Albergo Diffuso Polcenigo. At the back of CA\' BIANCA there is also a small brook called Rio Gorgazzetto after the Gorgazzo Springs. The pleasant noise of the brook water as well as the sounds of nature will keep you company during your stay.
TECHNICAL FEATURES. "CA' BIANCA” is a four-storey accommodation facility. There are four residential units (one per floor), each accommodates two guests. The residential unit on the first floor is designed to be accessible to people with reduced mobility thanks to the elimination of architectural barriers.
Every residential unit has a sleeping area, a living room/dining area, a kitchenette, a bathroom with shower and an external balcony overlooking the Rio Gorgazzetto Brook. There is also a common area, a staircase and an entrance hall on the ground floor. CA' BIANCA is on a typical "calle" street, paved with porphyry and leading to the Plebiscito Square which is the heart of the town and the centre of city life and services.
